Translucent orange flint debitage. A small flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a slightly concave ventral surface with a tiny striking platform at one end. This could have served as an improvised knife. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC

Flint possible debitage. A small flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulb on the ventral surface, the latter with adjacent striking platform. A dense creamy patina suggests the object has endured prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment, while orange spots may hint at its subsequent incorporation in gravels. Broken in antiquity. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.

Jet possible pendant fragment. Flat fragment from the curved end of a plate with a round countersunk aperture of diameter c.5mm drilled from both sides, and with a smoothed angled facet along one edge. The object is broken along a diagonal line which could suggest its original form to have been sub-triangular, and is encrusted with roughened textures at aperture and along lower broken edge. Jet has long been regarded as magical in that it is a stone that may float or burn, and, like amber, it collects static electricity if rubbed.

Debitage. Leaf-shaped knapped flint flake bearing at least four long blade removal scars on its ventral surface from hard hammer working before this piece was itself detached from core. Suggested date: Neolithic, 3500-2100 BC.

An almost complete Neolithic leaf shaped arrowhead. The translucent light grey flint arrowhead is missing the tip and is bifically worked with invasive pressure flaking. The arrowhead belongs to Green’s 4A typology based on size and shape. The surviving length is 24.2mm, the width is 18.6mm, the thickness is 3.5mm and the weight is 1.41g.
