Copper alloy possible cosmetic grinding pestle. Cast lunate or crescentic flat-sided object with a curved and bevelled edge with paired knops at either end; the curved edge is chipped. The central part rises to terminate in a further pair of knops. Diagonal file marks appear on one flat side, the other side is smoothed or rounded by wear. In form and wear patterns the object resembles a cosmetic grinding pestle. Suggested date: Late Iron age to Early Roman, 100 BC-AD 100 Height: 26.6mm, Width: 59.2mm, Thickness: 8.2mm, Weight: 32.67gms

Pottery. Reduced fabric with intermittently oxidised margins, with moderate to abundant shell temper fragments up to length 7mm; four body sherds from a probably handmade vessel. The finder kindly suggests an Anglo-Saxon date; this reporter would favour a Late Iron Age or early Roman date, with the pottery made in an Iron Age tradition. Suggested date: Late Iron Age to Early Roman, 100BC-AD100. Combined Weight: 99.54gms

Pottery. A coarse fabric, externally oxidised and internally reduced, with abundant calcareous and flint inclusions to length 3mm, probably a hand made vessel. This sherd was kindly examined by Sandra Firth of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group. The inclusions may have been intended to improve the resistance of a vessel to the thermal shock of heating and cooling. Fiercely abraded. Suggested date: Late Iron Age, 100BC - AD 43. Weight: 9.31gms

Pottery. A dark grey fabric with moderately abundant inclusions of rock or flint to length 2.5mm, though apparently lacking calcareous inclusions; body sherd from a large handmade vessel. The inner surface is smooth, possibly burnished, dark, with sparkling particles; the outer surface is lighter, and oxidised in patches. This sherd was kindly examined by Wallace Collyer and Tina Tabrah of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group, who suggest a broad Iron Age date. Silver coin fragment. Chip from edge of scyphate flan of a silver unit of the Corieltauvi, possibly an issue of VEPO dated AD10-40. This is most likely from ABC no. 1881, which is described as 'Very common' by Rudd et al. 2010; Van Arsdell no. 934, Haselgrove period 3 phase 8. Obverse description: plain. Reverse description: a probably six-pointed star; the interpretation offered envisages this to lie under the tail of a horse right. Diameter (in excess of): 10.7mm, Thickness: 1.9mm, Weight: 0.50gms.
