Copper alloy toggle. A solid cast object of dense metal comprising three sub-spherical objects, two larger and one smaller, each with a fringe of between three and five basal petals. The intended subject may be three hazelnuts, which might appear in this clustered wise on the tree or below it. The oval section scar of a lost element appears in the same position on the upper side of each of the larger nuts and may suggest a loop rising between them, probably to pass behind the smaller nut. Copper alloy stud. Cast concavo-convex cup-shaped object with a short stalk, resembling a truncated golf tee when viewed in profile. The shallow cup is filled with a thick layer of red enamel. Abraded. Such items would decorate larger items such as the mouths of sword scabbards or chariot or horse fittings; the use of a monochrome red enamel would admit a pre-Roman date. Suggested date: Late Iron Age, 100 BC-AD 100. Height: 10.5mm, Diameter: 10.6mm, Thickness (edge of cup): 2mm, Weight: 2.31gms
