An incomplete cast copper-alloy medieval buckle plate with zoomorphic decoration dating from the late 12th-13th century AD (c.AD 1150-1300).
The plate is rectangular and flat with one broken end. At the opposite end are two circular rivet holes, the rivets are missing. A cast copper-alloy medieval buckle plate dating to c. AD 1150-1450.
The plate is flat and rectangular with a central semi-circular notch at one short end. Originally it was attached to the belt through five rounded-headed rivets but only four have survived, positioned at each corner and one in the centre. The plate has traces of gilding on one side.

Only the pin has survived. It is of the 'shield-on-tongue' type with an integral plate over the pin, with a rounded end then a waist formed by two rounded cut-outs (opposite each other), then a rectangular lobe with a nick in each short projecting edge. The buckle has an oval bevelled frame and a narrowed offset bar. It is decorated with ornate outside edges consisting of two knops flanking a pin notch. The buckle has a mid-green patina with light green patches. The object is quite worn and the pin is missing

An integrally cast central bar runs across the middle and extends slightly beyond the frame at both side. An incomplete cast copper alloy zoomorphic D shaped buckle frame, of the Early Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1000 to c. AD 1100.
The frame is D shape in plan and oval in section. The crescent-shaped frame is in the form of an animal with a head at either end (one is incomplete), both of which would have bitten down onto the pin bar; only one of these survives. A complete medieval to early post-medieval cast copper alloy buckle dating from the 12th-16th century (c.AD 1100-1600). Cassels 1.3B. Meols type 2.
The buckle is oval shaped with a narrowed off set strap bar. The strap bar has small knops at either end. The outer edge of the buckle is broad and curved. The copper-alloy pin is wrapped around the bar; it is flat and rectangular, tapering to a point. The buckle has a green coloured patina.
The buckle measures 15.64 mm in length, 10.55 mm in width and 2.77 mm in thickness and weighs 1.28g.

A complete cast copper-alloy medieval buckle dated to c.AD 1250-1400
The buckle has an oval cross-section with an expanded and ornate front edge which tapers into a trefoil projection. The surface has a double row of stamped ovals running the outer lengths and along the width is a single row of stamped ovals. The strap bar is narrowed, offset and recessed with small lobes at either end. Notch for pin. The cast pin is D-shaped in cross-section, arapped around the bar and decorated with a collar below the loop. Mid-green patina.

Rectangular frame with moulded decoration comprising small projections along both of the slightly bowed sides. A trapezoidal copper-alloy plate is wrapped around the bar. On the outside surface of the plate is a rectangular plano-convex bar mount with chamfered sides attached by a very worn copper-alloy rivet. The pin is missing.
The internal bar measurement is 7.58 mm.

An incomplete late Medieval to early post-medieval cast copper alloy asymmetrical buckle dating from the 15th-16th century (c. AD 1400- 1600). Cassels type 1.3P
The buckle consists of an oval frame which has a notched pin rest and a smaller rectangular strap loop. The central bar is recessed to hold the pin, and expands towards this notch. The buckle frame is bevelled so it is triangular in cross-section. The reverse of the buckle is flat. The pin is missing.
