A complete lead / lead alloy spindle whorl probably dating to the medieval period (c.AD 1200-1500). The object is biconical in shape with steeped sides rounded edges with a large central perforation measuring 8.9mm in diameter. Both faces are decorated with raised designed; one face presents a circumferential rib around the outer edge and six traverse lines to divide the surface into segments, each segment contains three pellets. A copper alloy trade weight dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1600-1800). The weight is disc shape with a raised rim that is bevelled on the inside. The surface is slightly concave and has a series of finely turned concentric grooves. The face shows no clear signs of any marks or stamps. The reverse is slightly concave with recessed centre. The object has a smooth dark green patina. Dimensions: Diameter 30mm; thickness 6.66mm; weight 26.13g (roughly 1oz).

A complete lead-alloy bag seal of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1750 - 1900. The seal is roughly tear drop shaped with a rectangular cross section. Both sides of the seal are very worn, meaning there is very little decoration left on them. The front has a slightly raised square shape on it, indicating that once there could have been the stamped design of the crowned Dutch shield bearing the rampant lion on it. A copper alloy cylindrical barrel tap key cap which would have formed part of a barrel tap, fitting onto the tap mechanism with a hole for a specially shaped key to fit into the top and turn a valve to allow liquid to flow from the barrel. The fitting has an inscised band running around the middle and a much thinner band above this. The object is in the shape of an animal head, perhaps a fox, wolf or bear and is broadly sub triangular in plan. The front face of the mount is slightly convex and the rear is uneven. An incomplete lead alloy object of uncertain function. The object is semi-circular in plan and is flat. Each face is undecorated, rough and pitted. Due to its undiagnostic nature it can not be dated closely however the condition of the lead suggests a Medieval to Post-Medieval date is likely. The object may have functioned as a plam guard however these tend to be D-shaped in cross-section allowing them to sit comfortably in the hand. Palm guards were for use by a leather worker to protect the palm whilst stitching. Bailey (1995, 64-65) dates such objects to the 17th century onwards…
