A broken medieval lead alloy Papal Bulla of Pope Lucius III (September 1181 to 25th November 1185). The obverse or recta, bears the faces of Saints Peter and Paul with a cross between them, and pellet borders. Over the images appears the abbreviation of St Paul and St Peter 'SPA SPE'. A complete lead-alloy bag seal of modern date, c.AD 1850 - 1950. The seal is circular with a sub-rectangular section and is comprised of two discs of metal the rim of which is perforated by two slots/channels running through the diameter to the other side. The holes would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag. A pot mend of uncertain Roman to Post-Medieval date c. AD 43-1900.  The mend is formed from two broadly flat but irregularly shaped (sub-oval) faces connected by a projecting stem that extends from the centre of each panels inner face. Face is quite circular while the second is closer to a rectangle in shape. Held in place between these and against the stem are the remains of a ceramic vessel. A complete lead alloy shot of the "capstan" or "bobbin" type of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1600-1800. The shot is spool-shaped with a narrowed waist that flares at either end and has a circular-section throughout. All surfaces are undecorated and are abraded. The object has a mid-brown patina. The shot is 21.2mm long 15.2mm to 10.5mm in diameter and weighs 28.6g. Similar objects have been recorded on the PAS database including SF-A1A9A0, DENO-FD0ABA and LANCUM-FF78A6. This type of shot are mainly found in East England or south and east midlands.
