A complete cast reverse clay die for a trade token of post-medieval date, c. AD 1666-1668. The lettering on the cenre of the stamp face reads, in reverse, 'His Half Peny' with three pellets below. The inscription around the circumference is worn and difficult to decipher, but may possibly read 'James Dutton 1666, Chesterfield', or 'Thomas Brooks 1668, Derby' as in Thompson 1984, Plate XXV, nos. 581 and 587. The latter possibility is the more likely as the die was found in Derby. Diameter: 17.5 mm, Thickness: 3.9 mm and weight 6.87 g.
