An assemblage of 20 pieces of grey ceramic vessel, some decorated, of Early Medieval date, AD 400 - 700. They may be from cremation urns. They are all body sherds. The fabric is hard, dark grey throughout, with an irregular texture. There are frequent large (about 1-1.5mm), slightly rounded quartz or quartzite inclusions. Some pieces have poorly sorted similar inclusions of varying sizes. Tehe largest decorated piece has stamped marks in rows. The top line is S shaped stamps. An early Medieval to Medieval ceramic assemblage of 16 coarseware vessel sherds found in a walled garden, possibly Saxo-Norman dating c. 950-1100. The sherds are largely reduced dark brown to mid grey with oxidised surfaces. A fragment of Early Medieval (Late Saxon) ceramic vessel, dating to c. AD 900-1000. The pottery sherd is Michelmersh type. It is thin-walled, oxidised with stamped, applied strip decoration. The applied strip appears to be in the form of an X shape and are motifs of four dots, unevenly spaced, pricked into the strip.   Dimensions: length: 52.2mm; width: 43.2mm; thickness: 7.6mm; weight: 24.79g. A fragment of a ceramic vessel of early medieval date (c. AD 850-1066). Description: The object is a rim sherd, broadly rectangular in plan and angular in profile. The sherd has a light grey-brown core and dark grey  and brown mixed exterior. The fabric is very hard with well-sorted moderate rock inclusions of varying size and shape and mica inclusions visible on the exterior.
