A complete but distorted copper alloy pin of most likely Roman date, although an Early Medieval date cannot be fully discounted. The head of the pin is plain and globular and c. 4.7mm in diameter. Below the head is a moulded, raised band, however this is not so pronounced as the collars normally seen on Early Medieval examples. The pin is bent at a right angle around 8mm down from the collar; it then continues for c. 17mm before it folds back on itself in a u-bend; finally the tip bends up again at a 90 degree angle towards the head. Copper alloy mount. A cast rectangular plate which has been bent to penannular form. A series of incised chevrons appear on the outer side, though with a zone along one edge of the series undecorated. Probably originally of annular form with a butted seam, now partly flattened.
