Unidentified iron object. The small object is very similar to an early Roman brooch in form, with a 'T' shaped head, and curved body. However, the foot is formed where the end of the object is rolled inwards, almost in a spiral. There is no sign of a catchplate or similar. This, and the fact that the object is made from iron, suggest that it is unlikely to be a brooch of this date, despite the other similarities. However, due to heavy errosion it is difficult to see any features of the object apart from its basic form, making it difficult to identify it further. Length: 33.1mm, Wid…

A waste product of white metal. This melted piece of metal is thin at one end and rounded towards the other. The material appears to be too light to be lead unless the piece is hollow. The pitted surface and irregular shape suggest that the piece is not deliberately formed and is probably the result of metal working.

Copper alloy bead that appears to have been formed by rolling a sphere which was then pierced by a pointed tool from both sides when still plastic. It is 11.7mm in diameter, 9.7mm thick and weighs 5.11 grams. The piercing varies in width being largest and the outer edges and tapering towards the middle, at the maximum it is 4.8mm in diameter. A similar bead is recorded on the database as SF-076CF3. Simple copper alloy beads are hard to date precisely and were widely used between the Iron Age and Post Medieval periods.
