Copper alloy contemporary copy of a nummus of Constantine I, dating to c. AD 327-330 (Reece Period 16), VIRTVS AVGG, Campgate with open doors. Prototype Mint of Arles, - // ARLS. This would have been copied from a coin with the mintmark S F // ARLS. See RIC VII, p. 268, cf. no. 314. Copies of campgate coins are rare, but a few exist and the British Museum has a similar piece with the mintmark S F // PARL (1973 0903 121).
