Description: Silver-gilt roundel decorated with five ‘chip carved’ spirals and a single triquetra knot. Four of the spirals are linked as pairs sharing a common stem above a triquetra knot, the fifth balances the design. The roundel is light with a piercing at the centre, probably for the seating of a stud. Three other, smaller, drilled holes, which are secondary, pierce the disc towards the border, while a fourth, and probably tertiary, piercing is placed in the interior. The back is plain.

Description: Part of a cast Roman copper-alloy, handle from a priest’s ritual ceremonial rattle. One end consists of a concave ovular-disc plate that would have attached to a thin-walled circular metal box containing metal balls that would rattle when shaken. The exterior surface of the plate is decorated with a single circumferential groove around a narrowed centrally projecting neck that extends and intersects with the upper body of the handle to form two indented rectangular plates either side.
