A lead alloy shot of probably Post Medieval or early Modern date (AD1600-1800). Probably pistol shot. The shot is sub-spherical in form with a smooth surface and is light grey / blue in colour. A casting seam and prominent casting sprue are present. The surface opposite the casting sprue is flattened from use (probably hitting something when fired).
Diameter: 13.20mm. Weight: 12.90g

This record is for a hoard of ten copper alloy Roman nummi from the Withycombe, Somerset hoard, and is the first batch of finds reported as 2016 T726, with four coins reported earlier as single finds: SOM-8B678B, SOM-76EB43, SOM-756787 and SOM-279895).
Subsequent addenda from 2017 and 2019 are recorded on separate records.
The coins are all base metal nummi (sing. nummus) dating to between AD 294 and 305. This was the era of a collegiate system of imperial rule (usually 4 official rulers and thus known as Tetrarchy) set up by the great reforming emperor Diocletian (AD 284-3…

Two copper alloy nummi fund very close together and from a point very close in time to one another. They are surely part of a purse loss or hoard and thus went into the ground together. However, as they are of copper alloy and there are ess than ten of them they do not constitute a case of Treasure. One might speculate that they were lost in the first years of the fourth century, probably c.AD300-10.
