Lead alloy or pewter hawking whistle of Post medieval date, possibly dating from the 18th century. The whistle is cast in the form of a dog’s head with a wide collar decorated with a ring and dot design. The dog is biting on an iron pin, which presumably would have formed a suspension ring.

The weight comprises a cut fragment of ornamental enamelled copper alloy metalwork set into a lead base and is near-complete, missing much of the enamel (with a weight of 116.3g). The lead base is flat and sub-oval (36.5mm x 27.5mm) and the sides are slightly concave and convergent to the top face with a sub-rectangular section (19.0mm thick). The weight is circular and is rectangular sectioned (with a diameter of 15.5mm and a thickness of 3.3mm). The face is decorated a concentric ring and inner depression, possibly turned. The reverse is flat and has three punched indentations, possibly in a triangular arrangement. The surface has a mid-green patina with file marks evident on the underside.

The obverse features a crowned ‘GR’ stamped just below 12 o clock, and the word ‘IMPERIAL’ stamped just above 6 o clock. The reverse has many linear scratches. It has an overall brown/green patina. The weight currently weighs 5.73g, equivalent to 0.201 ounces and was originally a quarter-ounce weight. The rear of the weight is flat.

A complete cast lead object, likely a weight or a uniface token, of post Medieval date (c.1500-1850). The object is circular in plan (diameter 32mm) with max thickness of 6.4mm. The obverse of the object has moulded letters I S (or S I) with a circular moulding between. Traces of a further moulded circumferential design preserve above and below the central legend, and may have been a further legend, but cannot be discerned due to surface corrosion. The obverse is a mottled medium patina, the reverse is mostly light grey/buff. The object weighs 40.03g.

Polished bone point, probably of medieval or post-medieval date. The implement is sub-rectangular in profile, with curved sides and flat faces. The tool tapers gently along its length, with a more pronounced taper and rounded profile near the tip. The end of the implement has been shaped to a diagonal. The point of the pin is missing, with a recent break. One of the faces displays a more porous bone structure, representing the inner face of the bone.

Iron Age pottery sherd, probably of Middle to late Iron Age, c. 3rd century BC to 1st century AD
The fragment is an abraded body sherd (29mm long, 27mm wide and with a weight of 5.9g) from a straight-sided and thin-walled (5.5mm) vessel. The sherd thins at one end, possibly indicating the base of the neck of the vessel. The fabric is tempered with shell and limestone, with rounded quartz and occasional grog inclusions.

Cast copper alloy cauldron or skillet leg of Medieval date, probably dating from 13th - 16th century. The front of the leg has a prominent central rib and the rear of the leg has two chamfered edges. The fragment widens to an expanded foot. The leg has broken before the body of the vessel. The leg exhibits heavy carbon deposits as a result of repeated burning, as would be expected on the surface of a cooking vessel.
