Post medieval copper alloy belt or strap mount, of 16th or 17th century date The cast mount is near-complete and is of quatrefoil form, comprising a cross with open circles between the arms (with a length and width of 24.2mm – 24.5mm, a thickness of 2.2mm and a weight of 4.6g). The terminals of the cross arms are expanded with a central knop. The centre of the mount is decorated with an incised, concave-sided lozenge. The grooves cross and extend onto the terminals. Object is an incomplete, copper alloy strap fitting, thought to be a belt slide. The obverse of the fitting is a domed, disc-shape and is decorated with a swirl design which radiates outwards from a small central circle crating a scalloped edge to the belt fitting. The reverse is undecorated but at opposite sides there are two rectangular shapes projections, which would have been the remains of where the fitting would have been attached. Two-piece strap end, probably of Late Medieval or Early Post-Medieval date. Both plates are the same size and are both shield-shaped. The front plate is decorative with a top and bottom scroll surrounding the letters I H S, presumably a monogram. Within the arms of the letter ‘H’ is a small central pink stone setting. The back plate is substantially thinner than the front and is plain with a central keyhole. The two plates have been riveted together with three rivets, one at the base and two at the sides, giving the strap end the characteristic V-shaped profile.

Copper alloy composite three piece strap-end with a sheet spacer, from the Medieval Period and probably dating from the late 13th to the early 15th century. The weight was suspended by an iron loop, which is now lost but the iron remnants are discernible at both ends. The surface is damaged and eroded with no decoration now evident. If the weight is of Roman date it may originally weighed one third of a Roman pound (libra), weighing 109.15g.

Bi-conical lead steelyard weight. Fairly squat example with the lower part in particular being more spherical than conical, in fact the very bottom is flat, allowing the weight to sit upright. Traces of an iron suspension loop survive at the top. A complete copper alloy suspension hook from an unidentified object, potentially a steelyard, probably of Roman date (c. AD43-410). The hook is made from a single piece of wire bent and tapered flat at one end to form an 8mm long hook. Above the hook the wire has a sub-oval section 2.3mm wide and 1.8mm thick. The end of a tapering horizontal arm, plano-convex in section, which terminated in two rings set like a figure of eight projecting equally above and below the arm of the spur. One complete and one fragmentary looped stud attachment for spur leathers survive in the terminal rings. Seventeenth century. Recorded at the Hidden Treasure Finds Day at National Museums & Galleries of Wales. Spoon-handle of lead alloy or pewter of Post Medieval date, probably dating to the 17th or early 18th century. The spoon has corroded, but would have had a rounded expanded terminal and is flat. The front of the spoon carries cast ornament depicting a crowned head above a vine scroll along the stem of the spoon. The rear has a cast cross, before the letter ‘W’.

Post medieval pewter spoon of 17th or 18th century date The spoon is fragmentary represented by the flattened bowl and end of the stem (with an overall length of 99.5mm and a weight of 59.4g). The stem is oval-sectioned at the break (8.1mm x 5.0mm) and extends along the underside of the bowl as a gradually weakening rib or ‘rat’s tail’. The bowl was of elongated oval form (85mm long and 50mm wide), now missing part of one side. There is no obvious maker’s mark now discernible on the bowl. The surface is corroded with a beige corrosion over the mid-grey metal.
