An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval buckle, dating to AD 1250-1450. It is the buckle plate, consisting of two sub-rectangular thin sheets of metal, which are held together by four circular copper-alloy rivets located at the corners. Two of the rivets still retains the ring-shaped roves. The surfaces of the plate are not decorated and have a mid green patina. The edges are damaged; the short edges on one end possibly have the remainder of the broken slot where the pin was passing through. Incomplete medieval copper alloy buckle: rectangular or trapezoidal frame surviving only as a round-sectioned bar with stumps of the sides; pin missing; trapezoidal sheet plate with pin slot and with sides tapering from the fold to a rivet hole which is truncated by a break. Cf. Egan and Pritchard 1991, nos. 434-6. Extant length of plate 28mm, width 10.5 - 7.9mm. Second half 14th century.

Medieval gilt sheet copper alloy buckle plate, trapezoidal, tapering from the fold towards the outside edge, with a pin slot, frame recesses, an engraved wavy line from one side to the other behind the fold, and five rivet holes, one near the engraved line retaining a convex-headed rivet and two near the inside edge with flat-headed rivets. Very little gilding has survived. Length 34mm. Width 22.2 - 20mm. Much smaller rear part, length 18mm, width 16.2mm. 13th - 14th century
