Silver brooch fragment. The identification of the material has been disputed by the finder. Kevin Leahy therefore kindly re-examined the object under a microscope, and comments as follows: 'The fracture suggests that this piece is copper alloy'. The record has therefore been amended, with the silver surface appearance now considered as plating.

A silver/white metal remnant of a Roman finger ring c. 50 - 400 AD. Only the empty bezel and a fraction of the band remain. The bezel has a deep cup for an intaglio now also missing. The band has a 'D' shaped profile and it is slightly waisted at the junction with the main bezel. The bezel measures 9.68mm x 7.6mm and a depth of 4.79. The surface is pitted.
