A complete early post-medieval (circa 16th century) decorated silver-gilt pin. The pinhead is spherical, 7mm in diameter, with a worn circumferential rib separating the upper and lower hemispheres. Each hemisphere is decorated with three filigree circles, each containing a pellet soldered onto a filigree annulet in the centre. Additional small filigree-mounted pellets are placed between each pair of circles with another placed at the apex of the pin head.  An incomplete middle Anglo-Saxon silver pin dating from AD 700 - 900. The head is globular (often called "balloon shaped"), but formed of eight gently curved vertical panels, thus making it octagonal in cross-section. The head is 8.45mm in diameter and has a small collar at the base, from which the circular-sectioned shaft emerges. The shaft is bent and broken 28mm from the base of the collar. Silver gilt dress pin with hollow cast spherical head, applied filigree and granulated ornament in the form of circlets punctuated by knops. A raised horizontal band divides the head in two equal hemispheres. The stem which emanates from the base of the sphere is complete and slightly bent. Treasure Case 2023 T398 Description:   A complete silver annular brooch pin dating to the Medieval period, c. AD 1200-1400. The pin consists of a sub-oval sectioned shaft tapering into a rounded point at one end. Just preceding the point on both broad faces are transverse concave depression forming rests for the frame of the brooch. The shank of the pin is 1.9mm thick, circular in section and has been sharply bent, possibly intentionally.
