Obverse: [hE]NRICV[S REX III] (NR ligated); Crowned bust facing. Reverse: [ ]/ION/[ ]/[ ] (ON ligated); Voided long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant. A worn, pierced and possibly clipped Medieval silver penny of Edward IV (1461-1470), minted at York (episcopal) under Archbishop George Neville. Initial mark: probably a lis, dating 1464-1470 (North 1991: 88, ref: 1595 or 1599). The coin has been pierced with a sub-circular hole, 1.0mm maximum diameter, at 12 o' clock on the obverse.
