A double-tournois of Louis XIII of France, dated 1643 and probably minted in Tours based on E mint mark. Louis is particularly well known for exiling his mother, Marie de Medici, who up until 1617 was acting as his regent.
The coin appears to have been struck, possibly in the soil by a plough blade, as there is a large gash above the bust of the king.
Obverse:- Laureate bust of Louis XIII, facing left, legend around 'LV XIII DE [FR] ET NA REX'
Reverse:- Three fleur de lis, arranged in a V pattern, date 1643 in legend. Legend around 'DOVBLE [TOVRNOIS]'
