Robertson 2000, 9 no. 39: ""In February 1961 Mr. Edward Jones was cultivating a field on Ty Aur Farm, Llanelen, when he noticed the rim of a coin protruding from the ground. The coin was sent to the National Museum of Wales, and proved to be an almost unworn aureus of Claudius I, struck at Rome AD 51-52. A Dupondius of Claudius I (43-64) Reverse: CERES AVGVSTA SC Reference: as RIC I Claudius 110 Robert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. Bompaire (in Trésors Monétaires XXI, 2005), is working through the British examples of Claudian coinage recorded through the PAS assigning many so-called Claudian contemporary copies to Roman auxiliary mints which operated at Lyons (Gaul) and in Spain. This example could not be classified to a mint.
