A Medieval Iron axehead, dating to c.AD 1000 - 1500.  The axehead has a triangular or 'wedge'- shaped blade with a slight curve to the cutting edge; it projects downwards more than it projects upwards from the central body of the axe. The socket is filled with corrosion but is triangular in shape with a triangular wing surviving on one side, extending downwards.  When viewed from the rear, the butt of the axe appears rectangular. A Post-Medieval iron cannon-ball weighing 989g (34.8 oz), probably dating to c.1550-1850. Spherical, with a visible casting seam. The surface displays a black colour with patches of reddish/orange oxidisation. Diameter 64.5mm, weight 989g. Similar examples on this database at: SWYOR-21FE41, SUR-3212C4 and SUR-2D3E56. There is a possibility that this was once part of an agricultural rotary grinding mill used to crush chalk prior to spreading on farmland.

An incomplete iron jew's harp dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1800). The harp has a pen-annular head from the base of which extend the straight arms, are extremely worn and corroded but are broadly lozenge-shaped in cross-section. A heavily corroded iron object of unidentified form and function. Description: The object is a long iron implement. The top third of the object is a quadrilateral cuboid of around 12.67mm in width, whilst the lower two thirds is cylindrical tapering to a poorly defined point. A heavily corroded and incomplete forged iron spear of uncertain date, possibly early-medieval (see discussion). Description: The spear head survives up to roughly half of the point which survives as stretched diamond shaped point. An extensive section of cylindrical shank remains and is evenly made. A complete iron padlock, of medieval to post-medieval date (c.AD 1450-1700). Description: The padlock is spherical with a circular locking arm which is D-shaped in cross-section. The arm is joined to the spherical body with L-shaped projections or hinges either side of the body. There is a key hole in the centre of the body on one side which takes the form of a vertical stem joined to a circular top. An iron framed composite rimfire percussion cap single shot pistol of 19th century date. Possibly a Flobert style gallery gun/saloon/parlor gun dating c.1845-1900. Description: The pistol is heavily corroded with only the iron components left. The grip's organic parts are missing leaving it a thin openwork half crescent. The handle is integral to the frame of the pistol. The trigger is mostly missing due ot corrosion with no evidence of a trigger guard remaining. A complete but corroded hand-made iron nail of probable Roman date ( AD43 - AD410). Description: flat, circular head with square cross-section. The hand-made shank is square, tapering to a point which is slightly bent. The shank has minor damage along its shaft. Measurements: 62.26mm long, 22.57mm wide (at head), 7.74mm thick (shank) and weighing 22.96g. Dating for this find comes from site association with known masonry building
