A possible Early Islamic coin of the 8th or 9th century.
The inscription is in Arabic, the Quranic shahada or kalima, with the name of Allah/God recognisable on one side, and Muhammad rasul Allah (= Muhammad is the Messenger of God) on the other side.

A silver Continental sceat of Early-Medieval date (c. 695-c. 740). This coin is a Series X/British Museum type 31 and is a variation on the examples illustrated by Abramson (2006: 74). The coin is in good condition, with only a small amount of surface wear. It measures 11mm in diameter, 1.9mm thick and weighs 1.03g.
