A silver penny of Edward I (1272 – 1307), probably class IV or V (1282 – 1291). The coin is worn, scratched and cracked, and there is some brown discolouration on the obverse, but the coin is still legible and in fair condition. There is a chip at the two o’clock position. The coin has a diameter of 19.8mm and is 0.5mm thick. North number 1023 – 1029, minted in Canterbury.

A very worn hammered silver coin. As the reverse has a shield quartered by a long cross fourchee it is probably Elizabeth I, and probably a halfgroat from the size.
