A Post Medieval Spanish 1 real of Ferdinand VI (AD1746-1759), dating AD 1748. The coin has been severely damaged so that not much remains. A crowned Spanish shield is visible on the obverse with the letter I to the left, with rosettes above and below. The inscription is illegible but would have read FRD·VI·D·G·HISP·ET IND·R. The reverse depicts crowned globes flanked by crowned and bannered pillars with royal crowns, over water. Incomplete silver one real or 'cob' piece of Philip II (1556-1598) of Spain, mint of Mexico, Cayon no.3480. The reverse has the 'Florenzada' cross which has bifid ends topped with spheres is found exclusively on coins that were minted in Mexico City. The coin appears to have been clipped but is also worn into a sub-square shape so that most of the legends are missing.

A silver one reale of Charles and Joanna dating to the period AD 1542 - 1568. Crowned column on water reverse. Mint of Mexico city under assayer L - Luis Rodriguez. Late series. In the late series issue of these coins the two crowned pillars of Hercules were placed in water, representing their actual location at the Straits of Gibraltar symbolizing the ocean passage from the Old World to the New.
