An incomplete early Post Medieval silver gilt single dress-hook, dating to c. AD 1550 – 1650. Read’s (2008) Class D, Type 3. Lozenge shaped. It has a lozenge shaped plate with an applied oval section hook. The main part of the centre-piece is a large collet with eleven supporting ribs, one of which is missing. The reverse is plain and the separate soldered sheeting loop is now missing from the back. The hook is still complete and in place. Traces of gilding are in evidence. The find is in good condition. Silver gilt dress hook with a trefoil shaped plate that supports three hemispherical domes, each decorated with applied filigree and granulated ornament in the form of three sets of trefoils of annulars enclosed by a circlet punctuated by knops all separated by a circlet and pellet at the base. A complete gilded silver dress hook of sixteenth century AD dating (AD 1500 to AD 1600). The dress hook has a single sharp pointed hook attached to the reverse of the plate. The hook has an 180 degree bend at the half way point. The plate is rectangular with circular knops on each corner and two circular knops on each side in between. There is a row of raised pellets around the edge of the plate, surrounding a central raised rectangular area with a probable enameled area in the centre. A later 18th century silver probable hooked tag with separate copper alloy hook to the reverse. It is a lozenge in shape with a rectangular projection at the centre of each edge. The lozenge depicts a central incised five-double-petal flower with a four trefoils of leaves extending around, all on a background of groups of parallel rocker arm lines. An early post-medieval (1500-1600) silver gilt dress hook of Read's Class D, Type 4 (triangular), with its separate central decorative appliqué in situ. It consists of a square, openwork plate with twelve perforations in three rows of four, between horizontal and vertical cross-bars. Above one row the vertical cross-bars extend a little way and are topped with an inverted V. An early post medieval, silver gilt hat hook (Read Class A Type 1) in two pieces. The hook is present but broken away from underneath the item. A plate with cut crenellated edging is topped with a sheet in the form of a twelve petalled flower, surrounded by a coiled, rope like wire ring which is part of the base plate. Silver gilt dress hook. A trefoil plate with a pinked outer edge. On each lobe is a dome decorated with three wire circles. At the centre, between the domes, is a separately applied wide-headed pin which is attached with a butterfly fastening visible at the back of the plate. A 16th century silver-gilt dress hook; the backplate is trefoilate in shape, with three hemispherical bosses within each lobe. Between each boss is a smaller knop, and a knop is placed at the centre of the item. The outer edge of the plate is decorated with applied filigree ornament and the plate itself is scalloped around the edge. The recurving hook tapers to a point, and is attached to the reverse of the plate by solder. Traces of two points of solder suggest that an attachment loop was also soldered to the reverse.

Fragment of post medieval silver hooked tag Circumstances of discovery: While searching with a metal detector Description: Fragment of silver post medieval hooked tag, 11mm long. The end with the hook extending is rounded and 11mm wide. The hook extends 5.5mm and is circular in section, diameter 1.25mm narrowing to a point. Probably 16th century in date. Dimensions and metal content: Measures 11x11x0.5mm and weighs 0.42g. The precious metal content of the mount fulfils the requirements of the Treasure Act in that it is greater than 10%.
