A complete silver-gilt annular brooch, of fede type, dating to the Medieval period, c. AD. 1200-1400.
The brooch is small and formed of a frame, circular in plan, which tapers at 12 o’clock into the form of two clasped hands in prayer projecting from the brooch. The two hands are defined, with the thumbs facing outward and linear grooves forming individual fingers. Soil remains between the clasped hands. There is a raised collar beneath the hands forming a cuff.

Description: A complete Medieval annular buckle with twisted and knopped frame
The object has circular frame, made of a silver wire. This is rectangular in cross section for half its circumference. The second half is twisted twice fully. Within each twist is a continuous line of circular pellets. Placed just beyond this twisted section are two 'brambled' knops which are wider in diameter than the frame and decorated with diagonal incised lines. Silver annular brooch that has a circular cross-section frame with a constriction in one side for the pin, opposite is a notch for the pin rest. The pin is complete and made from silver, one side of which has been formed into a loop to enable attach to the frame, a transvers ridge separates the loop from the main shaft of the pin.

A complete but slightly damaged silver gilt annular brooch, dating to c. AD 1200-1400. It is circular with a sub triangular section. The pin is D shaped in section, held in a constriction on the hoop around which the pin is wrapped. A silver annular brooch of medieval date. The frame has a rectangular cross section, 2.1mm wide by 1.4mm thick; both faces have decoration in the form of a single line of pellets running all the way around. There is a small constriction to hold the pin, which has broken with the result that the pin has been lost.

An Early Medieval brooch or badge made from a gilded silver penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-66), dating to Early 1050s AD. The coin has been modified by the application of a hinged pin and catch plate arrangement on the reverse. The catch plate has broken off, but the two rivets intended to hold it in place is still there, along with a gap in the gilding where the catch plate was previously located. Unusually for this type of coin-brooch, the item has been gilded on both faces, although the reverse with the cross design would be visible when worn.

An incomplete Medieval gilt silver annular brooch dating from AD 1200 - 1350. A portion of the frame remains, with three elaborate applied quatrefoil mounts, 12.5mm in width, soldered to the frame. Half of the frame is square sectioned, 1.5mm thick and undecorated. The other half is twisted, gilded and with incised zig-zag patterning along each facetted side. A complete post-medieval silver brooch, comprising the frame and pin. The brooch is heart-shaped in plan, and D-shaped in cross-section. The heart is topped by a crown which rests on the apex of the heart’s lobes. The crown is double-arched, with a rounded ornament projecting from the base into each arch cavity. An incomplete probable post Medieval silver annular brooch possibly dating to c. 18th century. The frame of the brooch is slightly compressed from damage but would have been circular in plan. It is convex at the front and concave at the reverse and has ridged edges. The frame is pierced with a circular hole to take the pin. The pin is missing. On the reverse there is a stamped maker’s mark with the initials possibly reading ‘IS’ on either side of the hole. There are various scratches around the frame on both sides.

A Medieval gilded silver annular brooch. The brooch has a circular frame with a cusped edge and a raised internal lip. There is a sub-circular perforation to accommodate a lost pin as well as a V-shaped groove through the raised lip forming a pin rest. The inside edge of the perforation has been worn through and subsequently repaired in antiquity. There is a punched pellet at the interstice of each cusp, with the space between filled with incised curvilinear lines, radiating out around the pellets. There is also an incised border around the cusped edge. The reverse is plain.

An incomplete gilded silver disc brooch made from a late Early-Medieval penny of Aethelred II (978 - 1016) The coin has been gilded and has four empty rivet holes that have been punched through from the obverse to the reverse. On the obverse the holes are arranged at 3 o' clock, 5 o' clock, 8 o' clock and 11 o' clock and form the corners of a rectangle. A medieval silver annular brooch complete with pin, probably dating between 1200 and 1400. The frame has a sub-triangular cross-section, being flat to the underside with a convex outside edge, and a constriction for the pin. The tip of the pin turns upwards at c.90 degrees, away from the brooch. No decoration is present on either side of the frame, but there are tooling marks to the underside.

Description:
A small, incomplete early medieval silver strip-brooch. The brooch comprises an asymmetrical sub-lozengiform plate, rounded at one end and tapering towards the more pointed other end. At the rounded end is a pierced lug containing the stub remains of the pin, and at the more pointed end is the remains of the catch. The rest of the pin is missing. Both front and back surfaces are plain. The brooch is tarnished and quite scratched in places.

A medieval silver-gilt annular brooch. The brooch has a projection in the form of a pair of praying hands. The frame has a low triangular section. The frame has a recessed bar for the missing pin, and two flat platforms each with a raised saltire.
This is a well known form of medieval brooch. They occur in gold (usually with inscriptions), silver-gilt and, of lesser quality with cruder detail, in copper alloy. The decorated platforms on this example can be paralleled by CAM-1F5971.

Treasure case 2016 T691: Disclaimed returned to finder
Description: A fragment of a medieval silver-gilt annular brooch. The wire frame is decorated with two knops and one applied flower. The pin does not survive. Traces of gilding survive on the knops, which have punched decoration.
The brooch dates to the 13th century.
Dimensions: maximum width 25 mm.
Conclusion: In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

TREASURE CASE 2016 T440. A complete silver early-medieval dress fastening or hooked tag. The hooked tag is decorated on the upper face only with incised curving lines which are arranged in such a way to create an abstract flower pattern; a central sub-circular field is surrounded by abstract 'petals'. There are two circular attachment holes located near the top of the circular plate. The reverse is plain and undecorated.

An incomplete silver gilt with niello and gold inlay Roman Crossbow brooch of unusual form. The upper section of the bow and the wings have been bent at a one hundred and thirty five degree angle, the pin is missing.
The wings have faceted edges and therefore have a heptagonal cross section. Iron corrosion is visible at the end of both wings. To the reverse is a slot which would have held the pin which is missing.
