A post-medieval silver penny of Edward VI (1547-1553). Third period dating to the period 1551-1553. I.m Escallop. Tower mint. North (1991) no.1945. This coin is very worn, particularly on the obverse, and has been clipped, so that the legend and obverse are very unclear. It is 16.4mm in diameter and 0.5mm thick.  It weighs 0.7g. Obverse: Double rose. but very worn  [EDG] ROS[A SINE SPIN]A.  Initial mark  escallop. Reverse: square shield on cross fourchee.  Legend: CIVI/TAS/LON/DON.  Mint mark escallop.

An incomplete, clipped, post-medieval silver hammered half groat of King Henry VIII (AD 1509-1547), a posthumous example issued under Edward VI (AD 1547-1553) dating c. 1547 - 1551. As North (1991) no: 1881. Coin is fragile with a crack where it has been bent across the flan. The double pellet stops suggest this is a posthumous issue.  It measures 18.9mm in diameter, 1.26mm in thickness, and weighs 0.74g.
