Prehistoric flint knife or awl, probably of Neolithic date The knife is incomplete with the tip fragment represented (with a surviving length of 32.2mm, a maximum thickness of 4.0mm and a weight of 2.3g). Although the knife appears to have broken across its width (where it has a width of 15.5mm), there appears to be retouch over the break, perhaps suggesting the tip was deliberately backed and implying a possibly secondary use as an awl. The axe is complete and is comparatively small (with an overall length of 125.9mm and weighing 112.3g), with some recent damage to a blade tip and to the butt. The butt is rounded and slender (with a width of 18mm) with some flaking scars evident, mostly patinated. The sides are moderately straight, slightly convex and gradually widening towards the blade edge (where the axe has a maximum width of 40.4mm).
