Solid cast flat axe with the remains of thick green patina unfortunately badly pitted. The axe has a fairly broad butt, the sides expand evenly to towards the cutting edge where it rounds out slightly forming a half oval cutting edge. The central section of the axe forms a thin pointed oval in section, and both ends converge to a point in profile. The axe is of the type cast in one piece and then hammered and annealed. The butt end is 36.86mm wide, the cutting edge end is 74.95mm wide. Very similar to the axe from Hardingham Norfolk now in the Norwich Castle Museum
