A pierced post-medieval silver coin, probably a halfgroat or threepence, of an uncertain ruler belonging to the period from Henry VII's profile issue to Elizabeth I dating c.AD1500-1600.
The coin is very worn, clipped and damaged removing parts of the inscription and rendering all but the reverse design of the royal shield over long cross illegible. The size and weight suggests the denomination is either a halfgroat or (for Elizabeth) a halfgroat or threepence. The coin has also been pierced, from reverse to obverse, with a neat round hole.

The obverse is mostly illegible, the legend may have been over-struck. DG FR can be seen, and the laureate and draped head of probably Louis XIV facing right. Reverse shows a crowned double 'L' monogram, with three fleurs-de-li.
