A Medieval silver cut halfpenny of Stephen (AD 1135-1154) dating to the period c.AD 1136-1145. Cross moline ('Watford') type reverse. Moneyer unclear. Mint of possibly Carlisle or Cardiff. North Vol. 1, p.203, number 873. During this turbulent period in English history many irregular coins were struck and coins were also issued from dies that had been deliberately defaced, possibly as a rejection of Stephen's authority.

A silver cut half penny of Eustace Fitzjohn struck in the regin of Stephen between AD 1145-1154. Minted in York, Mack Type 221, North no. 929. Obverse: [EVSTACIVS]; armed figure to right. Reverse: EBORACI[]; cross in quatrefoil. Martin Allen of the FitzWilliam Museum notes that only two other coins of this type have been recorded since the 1990s, both cut halves. Dimensions: 19mm in diameter, 0.75g.

An incomplete silver Medieval coin; a broken cut half penny probably of Stephen (AD 1135 - 1154), probably Watford type dating from AD 1136 - 1145, mint and moneyer unknown. One sitraight edge of the coin looks to have been cut; the other is broken along a fold or bend. The reverse type is a cross moline with a fleur in each angle. The obverse is almost illegible. The coin is 11.7mm long, 11.3mm wide and 0.6mm thick. 0.5g. Compare North (1994) Volume 1, number 873 on page 203.
