A silver cut halfpenny of Aethelred II. The coin is of the 'First Hand' issue (N766), dating from 979-985. As the coin is cut the moneyer's name is missing and the mint is incomplete. However, the first part of the mint signatures is present [ROF] for Rochester. The coin is in reasonable condition.

A silver cut halfpenny of Aethelred II (AD 978 - 1016). Crux type dated more specifically to between AD 991 - 997. Some damage has occurred resulting in a further 15% loss to the surviving half. The mint begins with an L (Lincoln or London) while the moneyer's name ends in -ulf, of which there are a number of possibilities. EMC 2006.0100
