A silver Medieval cut halfpenny of Henry III (AD 1216-1272). There is no sceptre. The reverse indicates it was minted in Bury St Edmunds but the moneyer's name is missing. North notes that only Ion was operating as moneyer at Bury during the earlier long cross period (Classes 2-4), consequently this example has been attributed to him. Although absent from the obverse legend, the positioning of the legend which can be seen suggests it ends … REX III, rather than REX TERCI, and is consequently of Class 3, AD 1248-50.
