A complete Medieval silver short cross cut halfpenny of William I (1165-1214) of Scotland, minted by Raul at Roxburgh. Short cross and stars coinage, phase B, c. 1205-c. 1230. Spink 2002: 14, refs: 5029-5033. Obverse: W[ ]; Crowned head facing left with sceptre in front Reverse: RA[ ]; Voided short cross with a six pointed star in each quadrant Diameter: 18.7mm. Weight: 0.56g. DA=12:12. Note that Raul is normally listed as minting Phase A coins, but Phase B coins by him are also known. For a complete example, see SUR-5A4363.
