The reverse shows a voided long cross with three pellets in each quadrant. The part legend WIL/LEM[...] indicates the moneyer, but the place of minting cannot be determined. The nominal 6 o'clock position of the S from hENRICUS places this coin in the reign of Henry III and makes it class IV or lower, but the class cannot be determined futher. The coin dates from 1247 AD when the long cross type…

A worn and fragmented early Medieval silver cut halfpenny of Henry I (1100-1135 AD). The obverse shows a crowned bust facing with the partial legend; [...]RICVS[...]. The reverse has a quatrefoil with internal cross; beaded inner circle, with three annulets in a trefoil configuration at the end of each quatrefoil limb. There is a lis in each of the spandrels. The reverse legend reads [...]NE:O[...] and therefore neither the mint or moneyer can be determined. The coin is Class BMC 14; North, English Hammered Coinage vol 1 (1994) p198 No. 870. The date is circa 1123 AD.
