Silver coin. Short Cross cut halfpenny of John (1199-1216), probably Class 5a2*, issue of 1204-1209, Winchester mint. Obverse description: Facing bust, round eyes, hair of two curls and two pellets so Classes 5-6 and 8, rounded drapery, all as well defined features. Obverse inscription: [--]RICVS RE[--], probably composite S, lettering may suggest Class 5a2*.. Reverse description: Voided short cross, quatrefoil in each angle. Reverse inscription: ?+M?I?L?I?S.O[--], if this is Miles, then Class 5 at Winchester mint. Diameter: 16.2mm, Weight: 0.45gms.
