A silver medieval cut halfpenny attributed to the baronial coinage of William of Aumale, Earl of York, produced during the reign of Stephen (1135-1154) and dating to c. AD 1150, probably struck in York.  The design showing a knight advancing right with sword on the obverse, and a cross patée in quatrefoil with annulets on cusps and in margin on the reverse is known mostly from pennies of Eustace FitzJohn (North 929). Reverse: EBORACI[]; cross in quatrefoil. Martin Allen of the FitzWilliam Museum notes that only two other coins of this type have been recorded since the 1990s, both cut halves. Dimensions: 19mm in diameter, 0.75g.

The coin is 17.5mm long, 8.3mm wide and 0.5mm thick. 0.41g.
