Silver coin. Voided long cross cut halfpenny of Henry III (1216-1272), possibly class 3 issue of 1248-1250, and at all events an issue of 1247-1279; possibly moneyer Ieremie, and, if so, York mint; worn and bent. However, the obverse bears a feature resembling a faint sceptre, which would vitiate the foregoing ascription to class 3. Obverse description: [Facing bust], possible sceptre left; legend lost to wear Reverse description: Voided long cross, three pellets in each angle. Reverse inscription: [--]/IERE/(---) Diameter: 17.3mm, Weight: 0.44gms

The bust is only partially visible, but the condition of the coin is good, and the two ringlets with pellets in the centre at the side of the head, the fine even strokes representing the beard and the division by the hand holding the sceptre of the word REX between the R and EX on the obverse indicate the coin belongs to Class Vb, and because the remaining eye is not broken it has to be Class Vb2, which dates it from 1205 to 1207. The part of the inscription on the rever…
