A medieval silver coin; a cut half penny of John (1199 – 1216) or Henry III (1216 – 1272), class 5 (1205 – 1218). The coin is 18.3mm long, 9.3mm wide and 0.83mm thick. The coin was minted at either Lincoln, Northampton or Norwich, and given the findspot, Lincoln is most likely. For reference see North number 969 – 971. The coin is cracked and one corner is in danger of breaking.

Possibly Class 2a; what remains of the X in REX is perhaps more indicative of the earlier type (North Fig. 11, p. 225) than the later (Fig. 13). The coin has a diameter of 18.15mm, and weighs 0.59g.
