North 1991 Vol II, p. 226, nos. 986-988/1; probably Class 3c, but this is unclear due to the detail of the cut half remaining. The obverse bust is somewhat crude and the individual small and large pellets have blurred together to create haphazard dashes for the beard.

A silver cut halfpenny of Henry III (AD 1216-1272), dating to the period AD 1247-1272. Mint of Lincoln. Although the coin has been cut and only the mint name remains on the reverse, there were only four moneyers who struck in Lincoln. These moneyers are Ion, Ricard, Walter and Willem. The coin belongs to Class III because of the legend and the image of the king without a sceptre; therefore this combination of mints, moneyers and style dates this coin to c. AD 1248-1250.
