Silver coin. Cut halfpenny of Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), as identified by finder. Mossop (1970, ed. Veronica Smart, The Lincoln Mint c890-1279, Corbitt and Hunter Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne, plate 75 nos. 6-31, plate 76 nos 1-14) illustrates a series by nine moneyers at Lincoln mint, which would be apt to this find spot. Nos 6, 9, 11-13, 17-20, and 25-27 supply apt obverse matches with regard to detail of the helmet.
