An incomplete struck/ hammered silver cut half short cross penny of John, probably minted by Ravlf in London between 1204/ 5 – c. 1210 and identified as Class 5c (diameter: 17.9mm; thickness: 0.7mm; weight: 0.57g). The coin is in a slightly worn and fair condition. The distinguishing feature of Class 5c is the letter ‘X’, which is now in the form of a ‘St. Andrew’s Cross’ or a flat satire formed from four wedges. The sceptre now usually divides the obverse legend between R and E of REX.
