A silver cut halfpenny of King Stephen dating to the period AD 1136 - 1145. Cross moline with fleurs in angles reverse. Uncertain mint and moneyer. During this turbulent period in English history many irregular coins were struck and coins were also issued from dies that had been deliberately defaced, possibly as a rejection of Stephen's authority.
