A Medieval silver cut halfpenny of ther reign of King John (AD1199-1216) The coin has been cut completely in half; with this and some wear, the bust has become obscured along with more than half of the inscription. The moneyer is probably Abel. Obverse: bust facing forward, holding sceptre. Obverse inscription: [HENR]ICUS [REX] Reverse: short cross voided with four pellets in each angle North number: 971 Reverse inscription: [ABE]L.ONL[UNDE] Length 18.77mm, width 9.37mm, weight 0.8g
