A silver Scottish Medieval coin; a cut half penny of the Short cross and stars coinage dating from AD 1195 - 1249. It is perhaps of Alexander II, Short cross phase D, dating from AD 1235, as the bust appears to face left and be without a sceptre. Possibly mint of Roxburgh. Spink (2003) number 5037. The coin is 16.3mm long, 8.8mm wide, 0.5mm thick and weighs 0.56g.

A Scottish Medieval coin; an Alexander II short cross phase D cut half penny, minted at Roxburgh, moneyer PERIS. dating from c.1235-49 Obverse: Uncrowned bust facing left. Reverse: Voided short cross with a 6 pointed star in each quarter. Obverse will read + A(LEXANDE)R REX Reverse will read (PIE)RES ON R(OC) This is a known variation of the moneyer PERIS.
