Medieval silver cut half penny from Henry III (AD1216-1272). Class II. Long cross type AD1247-1272 (SPINK, 2004, 151, No.1361). Obverse shows the top of Henry III's head. He has a thick eyebrow line and two tight curls for hair. Three pellets separate the head and the crown, with the crown being made up of one plain band and a cross on top. The inscription reads [h]eN[RICVS REX TER]CI [R]. The reverse shows part of a long cross with two sections each containing three pellets. The inscription is reads [---]ON C / AN[---]. suggesting the coin was struck in Canterbury. The coin weighs…
