A gold post-medieval half guinea of George I (1714-1727), minted in London in 1719 (Spink 3635). The coin is an off-centre mis-strike, probably caused by the flan not sitting centrally between the dies when struck.

A gold half guinea of George I, dated (AD) 1726. The coin is in good condition with little wear however the left and right sides of the obverse have been bent, forward on the left and back on the right; this indicates that the coin may have been intended to be a love token. Love tokens are usually formed from silver, and occasionally gold coins, often being rubbed smooth and bent in this fashion. However this is a high demonination coin and maybe the owner thought better of it! Spink (2006) 3637.
