Half of a gold laurel (sovereign) coin of James I, third coinage, AD 1619-1625. Obverse: illegible (but would have been a laureated bust in armour left, with XX behind. Inscription reads [IACOBUS D G MAG BRIT] FRA ET HIB [REX]. Reverse: Long cross fleury over crowned square shield. Inscription reads FACI[AM EOS IN GENTEM UNAM]. It measures 14.54mm in diameter and weighs 2.10g. North, J. J. 1991. English Hammered Coinage, Volume 2: Edward I to Charles II 1272-1662, page 147, ref. 2111-2115.
