Coin weight of James I weighing 13.41g (207gr). It is of a copper alloy, probably brass. It is square, although the reverse is smaller than the obverse (18mm vs 20.5mm). It has a thick patina which obscures much of the fine detail. It was a weight for a rose ryal and dates from the time of the second coinage of James I, i.e. post 1612. Ref: Withers 286

The ship has a rose on the side and a shield above it in the ship. This is probably a coin weight for the ryal which has a king with sword and shield standing in a ship with a rose. The lower surface is plain. Dark green patina.
